陈捍东的原名叫李悍东,蓝宇的原名叫黄宇,王永宏的原名叫叶弘,他那个通天的爷爷就是见英,他那部队里的 ...
谢谢你的努力,我也被北京故事感动!
I just thought the story behind the book is itself worth a documentary film. It would be great if you or someone could channel your insights and energy to shoot a documentary that digs deep into the phenomenon to explore the many facets behind this story:
1. how and why the book/film resonated with the broad audience. So many people poured their hearts and time to watch/read and research the book and people behind the story. Interview these folks including yourself what this book and movie meant to you.
2. A cultural examination of the gay men in the 80s and 90s, how the gay circle got started, how certain parks became the hang out place, and how the society viewed them at large. How these things changed over time. Perhaps even a historical examination to the attitude of same sex in China.
3. The 无锡集资案 you alluded to, the story behind that (it sounds like a big scandal of its time.), that reflects the China in its early days of opening up to the western world.
4. And of course the love story of the 李悍东 and 黄宇. The mysterious 叶弘 (which I suspect is a story of its own).
History is important and history is best captured and understood through specific stories. We should try to capture it while most people involved are still alive that you could interview and record. It is unfortunate that 捍东 has passed away, this highlights the urgency of do a film before other also passed. Perhaps you could get 黄宇 to talk. I hope he could realize that the story has gone far beyond him, and hope he has the strength and generosity to contribute to the history in the making.
I understand this is a tremendous effort and if a documentary ever gets made, it's a labor of love.
The English version of 北京故事 received rave reviews by all major publishers including New York times, LA times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, etc.
(One thing about America is Americans care deeply about her history even though it's only 300 years in time span. There is a wealth of documentary films about every sub culture and events. There are films about Chinese in USA in the turn of the 1900s, the lives of these Chinese men, how they were systematically discriminated through the Chinese Exclusion Act. The film drew on old photos, interviews with historians and the children of these immigrants, but they are absolutely powerful and does the public a great service.)
Again I wish to express my sincere appreciation to your dedication to the book and reviews on this forum. |
